AWS - HowTo create a AWS Dedicated Host for MacOS

Earlier, in this blog, we have seen on "How to raise request for service quota limit increase for creating AWS Dedicated Hosts". Please refer here for further details https://cloudgoddess.blogspot.com/2021/09/aws-howto-raise-request-for-any-service.html

Now, the service limits has been increased to "1" for my account, so that I can create Dedicated Hosts. Let us see how to do this

Pre-requisite:
  • An active AWS account
  • Request approval for creating AWS Dedicated hosts from AWS Support center

Steps:
  • After logging into the AWS account, navigate to the AWS EC2 console
  • click on the "Dedicated Instances" option under "Instances" Menu at the left sidebar
  • This takes to the page to furnish the "Dedicated Hosts" parameters like name, Instance family(mac1 -> is the option to be selected) & "Instance Type" should be "mac1" for launching a MacOS EC2 instance

  • Click on "Allocate" at the bottom right and watch your very own Dedicated Host as request being created

Note: This Dedicated hosts can only be used to launch MacOS Instances as the Instance family & type are Mac related
